When it comes to Men and Women and how they purchase there are differences! The question is, how are men and women different when in comes to purchasing a home??
Men and women may have different priorities due to the gender roles in society. The needs and wants columns for a home will be stacked differently for each. In a recent survey taken by Coldwell Banker it finds that… women are able to select a home much more quickly then men.
About 70% of women need only one visit to a new home to decide if it is right for them. In comparison, only 62% men can say the same thing. Also 32% of men say that they need 2 visits or more before making a commitment to purchase.
55% of women believe that it is more important to live close to extended family than close to their job compared to 37% of men. Also in the survey it found that 65% of women( compared to 51% of men) are more likely to lose interest in the home of their dreams if their were concerns about the homes security.
Gender does play a role in home buying decisions, that is a fact. Because Mesquite Nevada is a small town and resort destination I am always interested to see how many people can make a $100,000+ decision to purchase a home in just one weekend! According to this survey it appears that women are faster at making that decision.
From personal experience… working with couples who are looking at homes to purchase I would completely agree. Usually it is the women making the decisions. For the men that are considering “just looking” at real estate, don’t bring a woman with you unless you are willing to make a commitment!
