Many people are asking… “what is the Real Estate Market doing in Mesquite NV? Well, I like to say it’s been kind of like being on a ventilator during Covid… It’s not Good! Sept-Dec 2022 was very slow. However starting in 2023, it seems that sales are a bit on the upswing. We are seeing a little more activity with buyers and more homes going Pending. The inventory is still slowly growing and the real estate market is moving more toward a Buyer’s Market, where the Buyers have more control in the negotiations.

It will be interesting to see where we go from here…

We are seeing fewer and fewer calls from people looking to rent a home while they build a new home in Mesquite NV. Instead we are getting calls from potential buyers that would prefer to lease a home for a year or longer and wait for the Real Estate Market to settle and possibly get a much better price than buying at the top of the market as it the market is going down. We are hearing people say 1-2 years until the want to buy again.

At least it seems that the drama surrounding the Interest rates is coming to a close. Most of the markets have already adjusted for the anticipated rate hikes. This does give us a little more stability and may be why we are seeing more activity.

We don’t have to remind you how important water is especially in the desert. We also don’t need to remind you that most of the western US has been in a drought for over 10 years. Water is a very often addressed topic that comes up when discussing Mesquite and Homes in Mesquite. This is where the good new comes in… Nevada says no drought conditions in Mesquite NV or in any of the Virgin River Basin. This came as part of a reported by  Jason King, Nevada State engineer.

In 2015 the residents of  Mesquite enjoyed a long beautiful spring with more than average rain storms dropping rain in various parts of the Virgin River Basin. According to MesquiteWeather.com Mesquite has had 3.74 inches of rain this year.  Which is not far from our average rainfall of 5.7 inches per year.

We are grateful for the rain we receive and keep hoping and praying more will come to the West.

The SafeWise Report Announces the 5 Safest Cities in Nevada

The SafeWise Report released its “5 Safest Cities in Nevada” report. To compile this report, SafeWise used the most recent FBI crime data from 2012 to analyze and rank these cities, which all have a minimum population of 5,000 people.

We look at crimes from part 1 of the FBI Unified Crime Report (UCR) reported crime data, which focuses on violent crimes (aggravated assault, forcible rape, murder, and robbery) as well as property crimes (arson, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft). From there, we calculate the chances of these crimes happening out of a thousand in order to level the playing field for cities of varying populations. From all the cities in Nevada, we narrowed the list down to 5 and assigned rankings according to data provided by the FBI’s UCR report.
